Welcome to

"Who's in Your Circle?

Collaboration in the 21st Century"!

This wiki is intended to offer you a place to explore Web 2.0 tools and other emerging technologies.  We will demonstrate how it becomes a collaborative tool for the creation of content, the sharing of ideas and the collaboration with others outside the four walls of a classroom. If we are to prepare students for the 21st Century and beyond, we must look at new technologies and welcome them.

Today we will be exploring Web 2.0 tools such as wikis, blogs, google docs, social bookmarking, RSS feeds, skype, yugma, voicethread and other emerging technologies.  Our goal for you is to leave prepared to share one or more of these tools with others and/or integrate them in your classroom.  Feel free to edit and/or upload documents you think will be of help to others.  To navigate through the pages of this wiki, click on the SideBar to the right.  To add a new page, retrieve uploaded files or make comments, you will need to log in.

So, how do I become a 21st century teacher using these Web 2.0 tools?

  • Choose one technology at a time; explore its use personally and professionally (get comfortable with it)
  • Define your purpose for the technology (How will I use it?  How does it connect to my content?)
  • Revisit your acceptable use policy (How does it address this technology?)
  • Teach responsible use of the technology (safety guidelines, netiquette, and consequences for inappropriate conduct)
  • Get started
